You won't find any minimalist poseurs here, pretending
there's something in that black or blue field, when all it represents is a lack of talent, or images of a few light bulbs
strung together as "installations" (when did it become acceptable to waste electricity?). No con-artists who paint
the hackneyed vertical stripes of color, expecting everyone else to regard them as "new" and "edgy". We resist the current art-world culture of sameness, and have
a policy here at Art of Santa Fe: Three stripes and you're OUT!

The Paul Shapiro Retrospective will be at Zane Bennett Gallery's new site on Guadalupe
Street in Santa Fe. Meanwhile, there is an interesting article from 2005 about Paul Shapiro, legendary Santa Fe painter--yes,
an artist who actually does cool and unusual stuff with paint*, here.

Art of Santa Fe: Painters Who Do Their Own Thing- Paul Shapiro
- Vernon
Witham
- James Perigord
- Van Dyke Jones
- M-J de Mesterton
These are painters whose styles are sui generis, and easily
recognizable. They don't copy anyone else--a rarity in the modern, contemporary world of art.
